Emotional Healing from Birth Group
6 September2019 - 12 October2019
6 week program
Having a disappointing, difficult or traumatic birth can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. This 6 week group aims to help mothers of all ages to come to terms with the birth and to develop skills to support their healing journey.
In a supportive group setting, you will learn how to:
- Understand what makes a birth ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and the issues that can surround a ‘bad’ birth
- Make sense of the birth and rewrite your birth story
- Untangle and manage the strong and complex emotions that came from the birth process
- Gentle techniques to look after and forgive yourself and your body
- Regain a sense of strength and self compassion
- Reconnect with your child and tell them about the day they were born
Dr Lauren Axelsen is a counselling psychologist who, through her own experience of birth trauma and healing, has developed a special interest in helping women who have been through a difficult or traumatic birth. She is dedicated to offering a safe space and evidence-based skills development to support their psychological and emotional healing journey.
Nyssa Lonergan is a registered provisional psychologist who is experienced in early intervention CBT for anxiety and depression, and has been developing her skills in Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Circle of Security Parenting through her internship at Mullumbimby Psychology. As a new Mum, Nyssa has a strong interest in supporting women through the joys and challenges of motherhood.
